Book Review: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Title- Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Author- J.K Rowling
Pages- 341
Rating- 4.6 out of 5
Companion/Sequels Books- Second book in series

Goodreads Synopsis- J. K. Rowling continues her phenomenally popular Harry Potter series with yet another tale of magic, mirth, and mayhem. Like its predecessor, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is chock-full of fascinating characters, frightful events, and fun wizardry.
And strike it does. For in Harry's second year at Hogwarts, fresh torments and horrors arise, including an outrageously stuck-up new professor, Gilderoy Lockhart, a spirit named Moaning Myrtle who haunts the girl's bathroom, and the unwanted attentions of Ron Weasley's younger sister, Ginny.
But each of these seem minor annoyances when the real trouble begins, and someone - or something - starts turning Hogwarts students to stone. Could it be Draco Malfoy, a more poisonous rival than ever? Could it possibly be Hagrid, whose mysterious past is finally told? Or could it be the one everyone at Hogwarts most suspects... Harry Potter himself?

Personal Thoughts- You always hear about the Harry Potter books being amazing, the best thing to be written. Well it's one thing to hear about it, but it's another thing to actually read them. These books bring you into this world of wizards, magic, troubles.
I was really excited to get into this book and read more about Harry, his friends, and that amazing school. There was so much that I loved about this book. The bravery of the characters, their determination, the witty comments, the writing style, the storyline. Personally, the storyline in this book wasn't as good for me, as the one in the first, but I still really enjoyed it. This was such an entertaining read, but also you could see the story getting more intense and more darker. Especially with learning about the dark pasts of Hogwarts, Voldemort, and the Chamber of Secrets.

I loved the magic in this book. However I was hoping hoping for more. But honestly, they're only in Year 2, so what did occur was pretty big for Year 2 students. I'm definitely looking forward to the next books and getting more into the magic!!

Characters- The characters in this book are one of the reasons why I think this book is great. Rowling's description of the characters are phenomenal.I personally loved Dobby. The way he tried helping Harry and warning him. It was so much fun to read. Lockhart was just annoying throughout the book, but of course that;s how he was suppose to be. Finally we have Harry, Ron, and Hermione. The trio. These kids work so well together and I love reading about them. Especially Ron's witty remarks, Hermione's brilliance, and Harry who questions everything. Together, they make for an awesome read.

So overall, I recommend this book and series(no surprise right). Of course I'm pretty sure almost everyone has read this series. But if you are one of the few people that haven't, then definitely check it out!!
